LEVEL is IAG’s new longhaul, low cost carrier. Arguably the biggest challenge faced by full service airlines nowadays is the increasing popularity of low cost carriers. IAG (the parent company of Aer Lingus, British Airways, and Iberia, among others) has tackled this trend in a few ways:

— For a long time they’ve operated Vueling, a Spanish low cost carrier operating shorthaul flights
— Last year they launched LEVEL, a Spanish low cost carrier operating longhaul flights
— British Airways has been reducing service on shorthaul flights, to match the service offered by low cost carriers
— British Airways has been increasingly densifying their planes to add more seats, so they can better compete with the likes of EasyJet and Norwegian
